Cruise to Walter Peak High Country Farm across Queenstown's Lake Whakatipu on either the historic TSS Earnslaw or the modern Spirit of Queenstown. Take in breathtaking views over the secluded tranquil waters of the lake whilst enjoying a drink or snack from the bar onboard.
Once at the lakeside Colonel’s Homestead Restaurant savour the delicious aromas as our chef has the best of local produce sizzling away on the grill. The buffet includes salads, vegetables, and succulent local meats cooked on the wood-fired BBQ. There is a wide range of delicious desserts on offer, including a vast array of fresh bread and cheese. Overlooking Lake Whakatipu and Queenstown's alpine scenery, the Colonel’s Homestead at Walter Peak High Country Farm is the perfect place to spend a few hours. Its colonial architecture and sweeping grounds evoke the elegance of a bygone era.
An entertaining farm show the whole family will enjoy is also included. Watch the farm dogs in action with a sheep-herding demonstration and say hello to the other farm animals. If there is time remaining, explore the beautiful lakeside gardens before re-boarding the vessel for the return trip to Queenstown. A deliciously wholesome day in this lovely region!
Please note the TSS Earnslaw Steamship is undergoing scheduled maintenance during the period 19th May to 8th September 2025. The Spirit of Queenstown vessel will be available to book throughout this time

This is a very interesting and nice experience for my family
The lunch was great and it was a great experience on the ship as well. The kids have enjoyed a pretty interesting experience. The scenery is also very nice along the way. The sheep show was also nice to watch. Will definitely come again next time.

On Tuesday my partner and I boarded the TSS Earnslaw to Walter Peak Farm
On Tuesday my partner and I boarded the TSS Earnslaw to Walter Peak Farm, once we there we got a warm welcome and took us around the farm after we had an amazing BBQ lunch and the views were something else. We definitely had a great day and there’s no problem for us not doing it again.

Bost was great
Bost was great, I'd been meaning to take this trip on my last couple of visits. We love being on the water and the old steamer is something special. The farm tour was fun, probably the only disappointment was the lunch venue. The advertising indicated alfresco dining with views back to Queenstown. Had we known the outdoor area was being renovated, we would have given the lunch a miss.. it was nice food, but there are plenty of other options in this part of the world. I'd check with operators before including dining, that the venue is open and the experience is available.
