Your awe-inspiring day begins at the iconic 19th-century McCrae Lighthouse, conveniently located in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula by the crystal-clear waters of the bay. The experience starts with a must-do activity on the Peninsula: a Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) adventure along the majestic waters of Port Phillip Bay. Keep an eye out for the local pods of dolphins while enjoying the backdrop of a stunning white sandy beach adorned with the famous colorful bathing boxes.
A certified SUP instructor will provide all necessary pointers and safety instructions before heading onto the water. The paddling session lasts around an hour to an hour and a half, offering ample time to fall in love with the world’s fastest-growing watersport while taking in breathtaking views of the coastline and Arthurs Seat (Wonga). In case of unsuitable weather or wind, an alternative inland waterway location will be selected. Following the SUP experience, there is time to relax, change, and grab a coffee before boarding the WAM van—renovated to feel like an eco-retreat—for a scenic drive to the southern coastline of the Peninsula.
The next activity is a breathtaking guided hike along nature trails, showcasing stunning views. Wildlife such as kangaroos, echidnas, and diverse birdlife is often spotted along the way. Depending on the route—rainforest or coastal—the hike covers approximately 3–5 kilometers, including a stop to unwind. If conditions allow, the hike may include wild swimming at secret magical natural rock pools, a highlight of the day. After the adventure, enjoy a delicious picnic lunch featuring fresh local produce at a spectacular beach viewpoint, complemented by native tea, coffee, and other local beverages.
The afternoon is dedicated to relaxation at the world-renowned Peninsula Hot Springs. Set amidst nature, these thermal hot springs offer over 70 global bathing experiences, including geothermal pools, an ice cave, saunas, hammocks, and more. Afterward, the journey continues to Red Hill for wine tastings at a charming, organic-focused winery.
No trip to the Mornington Peninsula is complete without visiting one of its over 200 wineries. This stop includes an opportunity to taste some of the region's finest wines while admiring vineyard views. Finally, the day concludes with a stunning scenic drive via the summit of the Mornington Peninsula, pausing at a viewpoint to reflect on an unforgettable adventure, before returning to the starting point at McCrae Lighthouse.
