What you can expect

See where the world’s most lustrous and rare Akoya pearls are grown in the Central Coast at the Broken Bay Pearl Farm. For the first time in 15 years, the Broken Bay farm opens its door to offer visitors a very special opportunity to visit an authentic, working pearl farm on a two hour guided tour and river cruise on the Hawksbury River.

The experience begins with a theatrical presentation that highlights the colourful history of pearling in Australia before boarding a river cruise to tour the local estuaries. Learn about the farm and local geology as you explore the marine wilderness and perhaps even encounter pelicans, fish and other wildlife along the way to view pearl oyster leases.

Returning to shore, visit the grading room to learn the seven virtues of valuing pearls. Get involved to see which ones makes the cut and which don’t. There is also a chance to purchase a gift for your loved ones from the farm after the end of the tour.
