What you can expect

Spend two days and one night learning to freedive and exploring the Atherton Tablelands, volcanic crater lakes, and tropical rainforest. Experienced instructors will lead you through theory sessions on breathing techniques for freediving, relaxation, physiology, and safety procedures. You’ll practice dry breath-hold techniques to enhance your breath-holding abilities, partake in in-water sessions focusing on dynamic apnea and depth progression, and master proper techniques along with finning, body positioning, and streamlining. After a day in the water, you’ll head to your accommodation to enjoy a BBQ dinner and a short night walk or night canoe on Lake Tinaroo.

On day two, start with a visit to the platypus viewing platform and the impressive curtain fig tree. After a morning of exploring, return to your accommodation to check out. From there, you will head to the open water at Lake Eacham, where you'll practice pull-downs and duck dives, learning equalizing techniques and how to conserve energy efficiently while diving before earning your Level 1 Freediving certification. This is the perfect starting point for anyone looking to become a skilled and confident freediver while exploring the Tablelands and rainforest.
