What you can expect

The breathtaking Harura Falls in the Bay of Islands is one of the most peaceful and serene fresh water destinations in all of Australia. Discover the magical waterfall with the Harura Falls Half Day Guided Tour, available for both beginner and experienced kayakers!

Departing twice daily from Waitangi Beach Base at 10 am and 2 pm, the 3-hour excursion will take you through the sheltered waters of the Waitangi Inlet, through the beautiful mangrove forest, and right up to the magnificent horseshoe shaped Haruru waterfall.

Harura Falls was New Zealand's first river port, and an ocean path or sea road for Maori tribes. Legend has it, a water monster (or 'taniwha') dwells in the lagoon below the falls. Your guide will share all of this local history with you, including this Maori legend, while also guiding you through the untouched nature of New Zealand.

Refreshments will be provided once at the waterfall, where kayakers are encouraged to take a swim. Your tour guide will be snapping photos along the way, and they are available for download after the tour!

Don't miss out on an incredible way to discover the Bay of Islands and the Harura Waterfall.
