What you can expect

Hell's Gate Geothermal Reserve and Mud Spa in Rotorua is a unique destination where visitors can witness and experience New Zealand’s most active geothermal wonders. The reserve is home to bubbling mud pools, hot water lakes, and steaming fumaroles. As the largest hot waterfall in the Southern Hemisphere, Kakahi Falls is a key attraction here, revered by Maori warriors for its healing properties. Visitors can relax in the natural mud baths, known for their therapeutic benefits, or soak in the soothing sulphur spas. The geothermal mud and water are rich in minerals, promoting skin rejuvenation and muscle relaxation. Additionally, Hell’s Gate offers guided or self-guided tours, where guests can explore the volcanic landscape and learn about its cultural significance to the local Maori people. Hell's gate is a combination of the natural power of geothermal activity with a wellness experience, offering a unique blend of adventure and relaxation.
